Singapore Math

Primary 2

This course covers key mathematical concepts in whole numbers up to 1000, addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers, multiplication and division using basic times tables, and an introduction to fractions. Pupils will also learn about money using decimal notation, and develop skills in measurement involving length, mass, volume, and time. In geometry, pupils will explore 2D and 3D shapes and pattern formation. Basic data interpretation skills are developed through picture graphs with scales.

Objectives

  • Perform addition and subtraction using 3-digit numbers, including mental calculation strategies
  • Apply multiplication and division using tables of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10
  • Understand basic fractions, including unit and like fractions, and perform simple fraction operations
  • Count, compare, and convert money using decimal notation (dollars and cents)
  • Measure and compare length, mass, volume, and time using appropriate units
  • Identify and classify 2D and 3D shapes and recognise patterns using shape attributes
