Math Olympiad

This course develops pupils’ mathematical problem-solving abilities through a variety of non-routine questions, logical reasoning tasks, and analytical thinking exercises. Pupils will learn strategies such as model drawing, pattern recognition, logical deduction, systematic listing, and working backwards to solve challenging mathematical problems. The course also strengthens numerical reasoning, geometry skills, and critical thinking while preparing pupils for higher-level mathematics competitions and assessments.

Objectives

  • Apply a variety of problem-solving strategies to solve non-routine mathematical problems
  • Use logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and systematic thinking to analyse and solve complex questions
  • Solve word problems involving time, age, speed, intervals, counting, and number relationships
  • Apply techniques such as model drawing, making lists and tables, comparison, replacement, and working backwards
  • Understand and solve classic mathematical problems including Chicken-and-Rabbit and Pigeonhole Principle problems
